Tank Replacement

If your tanks are aging, approaching end-of-life, or you’re facing the next wave of compliance and compatibility pressure, a full UST replacement can be the cleanest path forward.

We plan and execute tank replacement projects with a focus on safety, minimal disruption, and clear documentation, allowing you to move forward with confidence and keep your site operating.

Why Replace Your Tanks?

Replacement is a chance to reset the entire fueling system, eliminating hidden risks and reducing future compliance headaches. The benefits of tank replacement go far beyond the new tanks themselves:

Key Benefits of Replacement:
  • Reduced risk from age-related deterioration and hard-to-fix legacy issues
  • Modern compatibility for today’s fuels and equipment requirements
  • Cleaner compliance path (easier to maintain, test, and document)
  • Fewer emergency repairs and less unplanned downtime
  • A safer facility for customers and staff
  • A long-term asset upgrade that protects the value of the site

We take a practical, field-tested approach to your replacement projects. We can perform any and all of the following tasks:

  • Site review and planning for tank replacement
  • Decommissioning and removal of existing tanks
  • Excavation, dewatering coordination, and safe site control
  • New tank and system installation & related equipment
  • Installation of spill containment components
  • Electrical coordination tied to fueling system needs
  • Concrete/asphalt restoration tied to the replacement footprint
  • Testing, verification, and closeout documentation

IDEM 50% Reimbursement Projects

Indiana is in a major replacement cycle for underground storage tank (UST) systems. For certain qualified USTs, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) offers a reimbursement pathway that can cover up to 50% of eligible decommissioning and replacement costs.

We can help you plan and execute your replacement project according to IDEM guidelines, maximizing your potential reimbursement from the state.

Costs often eligible for reimbursement:

  • Decommissioning/removal and proper disposal of old tanks
  • Disposal of contaminated water/sludge from tanks
  • Closure report activities
  • Installation of the replacement UST system (certain portions)
  • Concrete/asphalt replacement tied to the work area

Costs not commonly eligible for reimbursement:

  • Fuel dispensers/nozzles
  • Canopies/islands/buildings
  • Non-essential paving/expansion work
  • Financing costs/fees

You can read more about the IDEM reimbursement program in this official release from the state.
