Underground Storage Tank (UST) Replacement & New Construction

From planning to completion: decommissioning, excavation, new tanks, concrete, piping, dispensers, and associated equipment, all coordinated to minimize downtime and surprises.

Tank Lining & Integrity Testing

When replacement isn’t the right answer, we evaluate tank condition and, when appropriate, install lining systems designed to support today’s fuel requirements—including ethanol-blended fuels—supported by manufacturer documentation and a clear process to follow.

The WB&H Process

Assess & Plan

We start every job by listening and gathering the details, then we lay out your best path forward. If you’re facing a larger project, we’ll help you understand scope, sequencing, and what needs to be in place before crews ever mobilize. This ensures there aren’t any surprises halfway through the job.

Execute Safely

Our crews follow proven procedures, use the right PPE, and coordinate the moving parts that keep a project on track. Whether we’re decommissioning and replacing tanks or performing upgrades like sumps, spill buckets, or product piping, we focus on craftsmanship, clean work areas, and clear communication so your site stays safe and your operation stays as uninterrupted as possible.

Document & Deliver

We provide clear documentation and a straightforward summary of what was completed and what to watch next. We also compile key information that customers and regulators ask for so you can confidently reference it later or point stakeholders directly to the right resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I should repair, line, or replace my tanks?

It depends on your tank type, condition, compliance requirements, and fuel compatibility needs.

  • Repair/upgrade when you’re close to compliance and components are failing (sumps, spill buckets, piping, etc.)
  • Line when the tank is structurally sound and lining is the right fit for compatibility/cleanliness needs
  • Replace when condition, compliance results, or project goals point to a full system upgrade

How long can tank lining extend the life of a tank?

When lining is appropriate and the tank is structurally sound, lining can often help extend usable life for several years. As a rule, we don’t recommend lining if we can’t reasonably expect the tank system to remain serviceable for the timeframe you need. The right answer depends on the tank’s condition and the application.

Why should I get an integrity test on my tank?

An integrity test helps determine the condition of the tank’s steel—including thickness and deterioration—so you can make informed decisions about repairs, lining, or replacement. This kind of testing is especially valuable when you need clarity beyond a surface-level assessment.

Do you handle “tank top” compliance upgrades like spill buckets and sumps?

Yes. A lot of compliance failures come down to components like spill buckets, sumps, and associated piping/electrical—not just the tank itself. We frequently replace and upgrade these components, and we can help you prioritize what needs to happen now vs. what can be scheduled.

Can you help with permits, drawings, and project planning for larger builds?

Yes. Project planning is a big part of doing this work well. For larger system builds (UST or aboveground fueling systems), we can help coordinate the scope, sequencing, documentation, and the practical steps needed before mobilizing. If permitting or drawings are required, we’ll walk you through what’s needed and how to keep the project moving.

What information do you need to provide a quote?

A few details go a long way:

  • Site location and facility type (retail fueling, bulk plant, fleet, aviation, etc.)
  • Tank type and approximate age (steel vs. fiberglass; UST vs. AST)
  • What triggered the call (failed test, planned upgrade, suspected compatibility issue, replacement timeline)
  • Any recent inspection reports, test results, photos, or as-builts
